Uk unemployment increases to 2.64m

Above, shows a graph of the current unemployment trends in the UK. Fair enough, this article may have been found on the BBC website under the 'business' section but i still believe its relevent to geography so wait out on this one...

"The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the jobless rate was 8.3%, up from 7.9% in the previous quarter.
Youth unemployment rose to 1.027 million, the highest since records began in 1992, beating the previous record set only last month.
The number of people out of work and claiming Jobseeker's Allowance rose by 3,000 to 1.6 million in November.
However, the rate of increase in the claimant count showed signs of slowing down.
The 3,000 rise was much less than the approximate 15,000 figure expected on average by economists.
Moreover, the ONS also revised down the October increase in the claimant count from the 5,300 reported last month to just 2,500."

These are just some of the many available facts highlighting the current trends of mass unemployment seen in todays Britain. However, more than ever we are being fed by the media that there are no jobs out there, we get fed facts on the amount of people going for one single job and we get told of the many highly qualified young people in mudane low skilled jobs, its relevent to ask the question do we or dont we need immigration and in particular those from Poland. The repuation and common missconseption of these 'unwanted' arrivals spark anger in some british who cant understand the idea that people from another country are coming and 'stealing their jobs' and money through subsidies, child benefits and healthcare. However they fail to understand what jobs they are infact 'stealing' and fail to take into consideration their £1.9 billion a year contribution they pay towards income tax inparticular. The polish saved scottish agriculture and have been saviours to the middle classes in the form of plumbers and nannies. Their work ethic has been openly praised by employers. They are also 3x more likley to be law-abiding than the average British resident... interesting...

So why dont the one million unemployed youth of today apply for these unskilled, generally low paid but solid and stable jobs? I believe because they simply believe that their standard of living is generally better on job-seeking and other benefits provided by the government of today. It is perfectly within the confines of the law to be claiming more from benefits than the average wage, however this is getting into politics.

Overall, unless Britian goes under a period of complete overall in relation to general work ethic and realise that beneficts dont solve everything then we need immigrants. Simple as that.
